María del Carmen Cheda de Álvarez Argüelles

Honorary Presidency

Co-founder, along with Manuel Álvarez Argüelles, and president of Álvarez Argüelles Hoteles. Born in Galicia, Spain, she arrived in Argentina after the Spanish Civil War. She began working with Mr. Manuel in different tourist establishments until they finally moved to Mar del Plata to settle there and start renting a small inn. These would be the beginnings of AAH. Currently, she dedicates a large part of her time to the Maternal and Child Hospital Foundation (FUNDAMI), of which she is the president.

Claudia Álvarez Argüelles

President and CEO

She was born in Mar del Plata. She is a Public Accountant graduated from the University of Mar del Plata. She completed the Specialization Program in Hotel Gastronomy Business at the Glion Institute of Higher Education (IHE) in Switzerland and also attended the Seminar on Hospitality, Food, and Beverages at the Centro Superior de Hostelería de Galicia (CSHG). She is President and CEO of Grupo Álvarez Argüelles Hoteles since 2024, a company where she previously held the role of Vice President and CEO since 2020. Also, since 2019, she has been a Board Member of MAPFRE Argentina as a Director. In addition, she holds significant roles as a delegate of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Mar del Plata since 2007 and as Vice President of FUNDAMI since 2022. Recognized for her dedication, she has been awarded the Encomienda de la Orden de Isabel la Católica for her work as Honorary Vice Consul of Spain in Mar del Plata since 2012. Recently, she was appointed Independent Director of Banco Santander Argentina S.A.

Matías Basanta Álvarez

Executive Vice President

Born in Mar del Plata, he holds a degree in Business Administration from the Universidad de San Andrés. Later on, he obtained an MBA from the Instituto de Empresa (IE) in Madrid, Spain, graduating with honors and becoming a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Club.

Throughout his career, he has stood out for his continuous training, specializing in Gastronomy at the Basque Culinary Center, in Hospitality at the Escuela Superior de Hostelería de Galicia, and completing his specialization in Family Businesses at the IAE.

With experience in various sectors, Basanta Álvarez has held several positions in renowned companies, including roles at Mercadolibre.com and Danone. In July 2012, he took on the position of CEO of the Álvarez Argüelles Hoteles hotel chain.

In 2024, he was appointed Executive Vice President of the group, consolidating his position as a reference in the business and hotel industry.

Horacio Losa

Operations Director

Born in Buenos Aires, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and completed technical studies in Hospitality and Gastronomy. His career has been focused on luxury hotels, with experience in international chains in high management, marketing, and operations roles.
